This article is for CSP partners wanting to install CloudMonitor. As a CSP Partner you can choose to install CloudMonitor in two different methods,
- Install CloudMonitor in CSP's tenant and run it as a SaaS FinOps Tool for your customers.
- Install CloudMonitor directly in customers tenancy.
If you choose 2nd option, please refer to this installation guide. This guide is for the 1st option and to ensure that you receive any discounts off the retail price please follow the below steps.
Discovery of margin
1. CSP needs to login to Partner Center under the tenant that you have provided a Private Offer on.
2. CSP verifies that the margin has been provided to them by going to Pricing then Margins.
Purchase of Product
A CSP can purchase a SaaS product from PC directly or from the Azure portal. Azure applications and VMs can only be purchased from the Azure portal.
1. CSP chooses the customer that they want to purchase the product for - Customers | Partner Center (microsoft.com)
2. CSP logins to the Azure portal on behalf of the customer.
3. CSP verifies they have logged in on behalf of the customer they would like to purchase for.
4. CSP browses for your product and purchases it for the customer. Installation will be done on CSP's tenant. Please refer to below article for detailed step by step guide,
5. Next step is configuring B2B user. This step will also be completed in CSP's tenant. Please refer to below article for detailed step by step guide,
6. Next step is assigning specific permissions to the Synapse workspace and its artifacts. This step will also be completed in CSP's tenant. Please refer to below article for detailed step by step guide,
7. Next steps are to provide specific permission in Customer's tenant. Therefore, CSP will need to create a Service Principal in Customer's tenant. Below is a step by step guide on how to create a Service Principal in Customer tenant,
8. Next step is to provide reader permissions to the subscriptions which needs to be monitored by CloudMonitor. This needs to be done in Customer's tenant with service principal created in step 7. Please refer to below article for detailed step by step guide,
9. Next step is to provide specific permissions to the billing account of customer's Azure tenant. This needs to be done in Customer's tenant with service principal created in step 7. Please refer to below article for detailed step by step guide (Please choose customers billing account type from the below link),
10. Next step is to configure Storage account which will be used for cost exports. This needs to be done in Customer's tenant with service principal created in step 7. Please refer to below article for detailed step by step guide,
11. Final step is to create a support ticket by emailing below information to [email protected]
- Service Principal Name - Step 7
- Client Secret - Step 7
- Client Id - Step 7
- Object Id - Step 7
- Tenant Id - Step 7
- Blob Service SAS URL - Step 10

Once the support ticket is created, our support team will provide you with the credentials to log in to Power BI, along with the next steps.
Recon
At the end of the month, the CSP will receive a reconciliation file detailing every purchase they made, they can see the private offer price and margin being applied.
